Fill in the blank. how many miles? The average thereshold for human vision is a candle flame seen from ____ on a dark clear night?
Not competing for a best answer, but a word suits ';hillock';.
There is a story about a priest who was very much respected. He happened to do something that was against the law of that place. He was sentenced to 'death', a penalty prescribed by that law. But since none of the people had the inclination to impose that penalty, despite their reverence to the law also, they requested the priest to walk up to the top of the hillock and stay there for a whole night, without warm clothing(being sure that he would freeze to death). He calmly complied and next morning, to the surprise of all, he climbed down!
When asked about the 'miracle', he explained that he could see a candle flame far away, and just kept watching it, seeking its warmth. Perhaps, 'that candle flame' he said, 'saved me with the much needed warmth'!
A deeper vision could work thus! ( Modern science is yet to reach this technology. The ancient masters have perfected it and the nearest English word is 'synthesis'. When we meditate upon some thing, we imbibe its qualities. If 'meditate' seems too strong a word, just gazing would do! If lucky, we can try looking at a full moon, and if it works, the coolness of the moon would permeate through us!)The average thereshold for human vision is a candle flame seen from ____ on a dark clear night?
I might be a nerd for saying this, but I am in highschool and I found this Psych book in my library that was for a college class. The librarian said I could keep it!
Anyway, that was in that book and the answer is 30 miles.

@miyu: lol no kidding! I read it and I was like ';WHAAAAAAAAAAT???'; because I'm almost sure on a dark clear night I can't see anything.
0.2 miles?
